Dov Charney is a liar. According to a tipster- Sesame Street did not approach them with any sort of anything, AA simply gets Sesame Street branding due to a sub-contract with Mighty Fine clothing. SS contracts out it's image catalogue to MF, which they in turn contract out to certain companies. Apparently MF also produces Disney clothing and other major names such as Doe. So, while I hate to think SS graphics are gracing the emanciated bodies of 19 year olds that actually look 12, it's comforting to know it's not a direct endorsment by Sesame Street. {PRNews, Jezebel, MF.com}
Be wary of sleekly dressed developers. Augusten Burroughs is living in a bankrupt building thanks to them. {NYT}
In case you missed the boat yesterday: here is a little tutorial about Windows 7. And no, I haven't switched over yet-but by golly I'm going to. As soon as I get the whole money for basic needs thing down and don't want to stress over switching over. I hate switching and backing up and all that mess. I'm lazy though is the biggest problem. {Lifehacker}
On the other hand-you can go ahead and check out the more stable Ubuntu 9.10 RC if that's your thing. {Lifehacker, bc The Fridge is not loading-but everything else on the Ubuntu site is? Odd}
Oyster travel blog shows the marketing photos of hotels vs the real life counterpart. Neat to see just how altered some photos are.
I don't know how I feel about this, but it is certainly an interesting design for laptop. {Gizmodo}
Net Neutrality is a go. For the better. Probably. {FCC, Ars Technica}
A couple days ago...or maybe it was yesterday I'm really not sure, I recieved my first Black Friday e-mail. I am one of those crazy people that stay up late and stand in line and don't sleep in order to get my 1TB external drive for practically free. Or 8GB thumbdrives for preactically free. Because while internet sales have come around, and many retailers have started having sales extend well into the weekend-the fact of the matter is there are still stupid cheap deals that are only available at 5am and even if the sale is good all day that doesn't mean the store will have any of those hard drives left. they barely had any left at 530am when I got there one morning. In my old age though, I've gotten to where I only hit up local stores, no more driving to the town over just because they have a CompUSA and we don't. Unless it's really worth it of course. If you like sales check out the Black Friday website.
I totally had it until it said you had to be fluent in Russian. I knew I should've kept up with those lessons. I really wanted to live in an isolation chamber for 520 days pretending to go to Mars too! {Physorg}
I don't ever hear about Steve Jobs giving away craptons of money to charities, setting up his own charity foundation, or trying to keep kids alive across the world. While I'm sure he donates, Mr. Gates has most beat. And he doesn't even flaunt it. Good show! {Telegraph}
Nigerian scam artists are actually being dealt with. Slowly but surely people! Slowly but surely. {Ars technica}
And as a Happy Friday to you all I present to you LOLcats/dogs/fails
